The University of Maryland Robert E. Fischell Institute for Biomedical Devices will celebrate its official launch on Thursday, January 3, 2019. 
 
The event will kick off with a biomedical device symposium in the A. James Clark Hall Forum. The symposium, which will run from 1:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m., will showcase research supported by the Fischell Institute.

  • An Information Processing Approach to Chemical Analysis - Gregory Payne, Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research
  • Blow Spinning a Surgical Solution - Anthony Sandler, Children’s National Health System
  • Lymph Node Structure in Tolerance: New Insights from Bioengineering - Jonathan Bromberg, University of Maryland School of Medicine
  • Redox-linked Bioelectronics: A New Medtech Paradigm - William E. Bentley, Fischell Institute for Biomedical Devices
Following the symposium, the Fischell Institute will hold a launch ceremony at 3:30 p.m. in the fifth floor atrium of Clark Hall. The program will feature brief remarks from Dr. Robert E. Fischell himself, as well as from Fischell Institute researchers and supporters.
 
At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests will enjoy hors d'oeuvres and refreshments on the first floor of Clark Hall. All are invited to attend one or both portions of the afternoon.
 
This event is open to the public.
