Interested in working together? Have an idea but don't know where to start?

Please note that you must be affiliated with the Fischell Institute to take advantage of this program.

Questions? Please email us at fischellinstitute@umd.edu.

How this works:

1. Identify areas of collaboration
2. Fischell Foundry consultation
3. Design and fabricate prototypes
4. Identify follow-on funding

Please submit your project information via this form and the Fischell Foundry will be in touch.

The Fischell Foundry team will evaluate your technology to determine if it is a candidate for the JumpSTART program.

Please note that this program is only available to those affiliated with the Institute. The Foundry will contact you to obtain more information about your technology during this process.

Evaluate and develop a plan to address any hurdles identified in Phase 1. This will provide an in-depth analysis to see if the device is a candidate for successful fabrication at the Fischell Institute and be competitive for transitional grants, or if a third party is needed.

Develop a minimally viable prototype (MVP) or next-generation prototype for existing devices. The Fischell Foundry will identify optimal device development and component fabrication whether utilizing University of Maryland or external resources. Fischell Foundry engineers will support device design and fabrication.

Once an MVP is developed, the Foundry may assist in identifying follow-on funding opportunities by determining a data development plan and/or additional areas of research necessary to support competitive grant proposals, with the ultimate goal of engaging translational funding opportunities, such as the Young Investigator Program, NIH R33, and NHLBI Catalyze Program.
