Caitlyn Singam (BS Biology 2020, MSSE 2021), a current Bioengineering Ph.D. student advised by Distinguished University Professor Emeritus Tony Ephremides (ECE/ISR), is organizing an online INCOSE "SySTEAM" mini-conference for July 27-28. INCOSE is the International Council on Systems Engineering. More information about the event itself will become available early this summer.

Want to help shape the future of systems engineering? Join us at INCOSE SySTEAM Initiative’s first-ever mini-conference --- a free, two-day virtual event (July 27-28, 2023) open to the public where our participants will get to take center stage in sharing, discussing, and showcasing the latest existing and emerging ideas in systems competency education! Registration is now open (click here to register).
This online mini-conference is an opportunity for systems-minded folks from around the globe to convene, discuss, and exchange ideas relating to the intersection between STEM/STEAM education and systems thinking/systems engineering competencies, in furtherance of SySTEAM’s goal of “improving education for all students, everywhere”.
We’re currently seeking thought-provoking contributions for our mini-conference, in the form of high-quality abstracts for both 30-minute paper presentations as well as 5-minute poster-based/“lightning” presentations. Anyone and everyone is welcome to send in an abstract – potential contributions can include experiences/“lessons learned”, case studies, research, issues, critiques, analyses, etc. that will inspire interest in interdisciplinary systems education/training and provoke further conversations. We’re hoping to accept submissions on a wide variety of perspectives, running the gamut from bright-eyed early-career folks to seasoned SE veterans (and including both INCOSE and non-INCOSE members) – so if you have ideas on systems education that you want to share with the world, we want to hear from you! Abstracts are due May 15 – you can send yours in while signing up for the mini-conference or via this post-registration form.
Even if public speaking isn’t your cup of tea – or you’re unable to attend the mini-conference – you can still contribute to the mini-conference as a peer reviewer. We’ll be counting on our peer reviewers to provide quality feedback on the submissions we receive and to help ensure a robust event program. STEAM educators and individuals with expertise in systems education are especially encouraged to volunteer. You can volunteer as a peer reviewer using the conference registration form or via this alternate link by May 15.
