Elena Russ joins Fischell Institute as communications manager

Elena Russ has joined the Robert E. Fischell Institute for Biomedical Devices as the communications manager. This addition signals a significant step forward for the institute, increasing its capacity to highlight the groundbreaking research and innovative collaborations taking place within the organization.
In her role as communications manager, Russ will oversee the development and execution of the institute’s internal and external communication strategies, including outreach, digital content, and community engagement, while working closely with Communications and Program Specialist Ambi Narula.
Together, the communications team will produce a wide range of content—from feature stories and technical articles to video campaigns and community events—with the overarching goal of ensuring that the work of our scientists, engineers, and students receives the recognition it deserves.
Russ joins the team with over 12 years of experience working at the University of Maryland’s Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (Mtech). At Mtech, she assisted in the development and implementation of marketing strategies, communications, and public relations for Mtech’s programs. Prior to Mtech, Russ worked at a small startup in Maryland coordinating marketing and customer engagement. She can be reached directly at esten@umd.edu.
