Fischell Institute Co-hosts Innovation and Entrepreneurship Village at Family Weekend

On Saturday, September 21, the Fischell Institute and xFoundry@UMD collaborated to host the first-ever Innovation and Entrepreneurship Village at the University of Maryland’s Family Weekend. The village was set up in Edward St. John Learning and Teaching Center (ESJ) plaza from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. 

Fischell Institute Communications Specialist Ambi Narula worked closely with xFoundry’s marketing team, Isabella LaurelAlison WaldmanSarah Hickey, and Kevin Roach, to bring this idea to life. 

The village showcased the university’s success and passion for innovation and entrepreneurship. 

In addition to the Fischell Institute and xFoundry, the village included the Mokhtarzada Hatchery, Startup Shell, Arts for All, Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship, Do Good Institute, and the Academy for Innovation & Entrepreneurship

“We’re very proud that UMD is a top five school for innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Dean Chang, the university’s chief innovation officer and associate vice president for innovation & entrepreneurship and economic development. “The Innovation Village was a terrific way to share that recognition and showcase some of our secret sauce with Terp families visiting.”
