Robert E. Fischell Institute for Biomedical Devices faculty members Lex Schultheis and Martha Wang took part in the 2019 MedTech conference held in Boston, Sept. 23-25. MedTech is one of the largest nationwide conferences focused on emerging medical technologies.
To kick off the event, the National Capital Consortium for Pediatric Device Innovation (NCC-PDI) - co-led by the Children's National Health System and the Fischell Institute - hosted the 7th annual Pediatric Device Innovation Symposium, which included a $150,000 “Make Your Medical Device Pitch for Kids” competition centered on devices designed for newborns.
Later in the day, Schultheis led a panel discussion titled, "Hope or Hype? Shining a Light on Digital Health and Software as a Medical Device for Kids." Wang also served on a panel addressing novel methodologies for small population clinical trials.
